Property owners, livestock farmers, butchers, breeders and new entrants into the market looking to purchase or trade in property and livestock have to comply with a number of important rules and conditions.
Animal husbandry is a highly sophisticated business controlled by state veterinary laws to international standards. Abattoirs and butcheries, restaurateurs and meat markets all have to protect consumers.
All sellers and buyers or representatives acting on their behalf, must comply with the legal parameters as set out in the documents below.

INDIVIDUAL BUYERS
Buyers’ registration prior to auction
Anyone that intends to bid at the auction must register his or her identity on the buyers’ registration prior to the commencement of the auction and such registration must meet the requirements of FICA (Financial Intelligence Centre Act, 2001) in respect of the establishment and verification of identity of the person and the person must sign the registration entry.
BID ON BEHALF OF ANOTHER PERSON
Letter of authority
A person who attends the auction to bid on behalf of another person must produce a letter of authority that expressly authorizes him or her to bid on behalf of that person.
BID ON BEHALF OF COMPANY
Letter of authority on company letterhead
A person who attends the auction to bid on behalf of another person must produce a letter of authority that expressly authorizes him or her to bid on behalf of that person.
Certified copy of the resolution
Where a person is bidding on behalf of a company the letter of authority must appear on the letterhead of the company and must be accompanied by a certified copy of the resolution authorizing him or her to bid on behalf of the company.

ON THE DAY OF THE AUCTION (ON SETTLEMENT) WE SUPPLY BUYERS WITH:
Invoice,
Removal certificate,
Animal owner health declaration,
Necessary permits provided by the state vet.
Buyers are welcome to call or email Badenhorst Auctioneers any time after the day of auction if any additional information is required in regard to the transaction and livestock purchased. Our system allow easy access to all transactions and sellers’ portfolios. The buyers’ registration and the sale agreement will be made available for inspection at the offices of Badenhorst Attorneys during normal business hours without the charge of a fee.
